Pulpo

If you’ve read The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery, you may have been convinced that these special animals are conscious, sentient beings. We will make the case that all living things have souls and are thus worthy of our care and love. This is a beautiful and yet dangerous idea when taken to its ultimate conclusions - watch out when stepping on that blade of grass!

We enjoy the style of a classic dictionary definition and placed one on top of ‘Alma del Pulpo’ or soul of the octopus. For our definition of soul, we chose a moving one from the Oxford English Dictionary and translated it to Spanish: The seat of a person's emotions or thoughts; the moral or emotional part of a person's nature; the central or inmost part of a person's being.

Is there a specific place where this shirt takes its inspiration from? We think this shirt will be worn best in Barcelona, where the sea cannot be forgotten for long and where marine life, and its beauty, has inspired artists from Antoni Gaudi's mosaic tiles at Casa Milà to Joan Miró’s Seabed series.
